Igor Slivac
University of Zagreb, Croatia

Igor Slivac obtained his degree in biochemical engineering at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology. He received his Ph.D. in bioprocess engineering from the same university in 2008. His thesis covers topics optimisation of virus production process as well as fish cell line cultivation in a disposable bioreactor. In 2009 he habilitated in animal cell culture application and technology, and got an assistant professor position in the Laboratory for cell culture technology and Biotransformations of the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology. He spent four and a half years (2010-2014) working as a postdoctoral researcher in the National Research Center – Montreal (Canada) and the Universite Laval (Quebec City, Canada) where he expanded his expertise in cell transfection, cell line development as well as in studying biomolecular transfection vectors (peptides and viral derived particles). Currently he works as a lecturer student supervisor and investigator in the field of animal cell technology in the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb.
